6th IJERPH Webinar

Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development

Global warming has caused a series of damage to the ecological and anthropogenic environments. Many countries have promised to reduce carbon emissions, with the ultimate goal of reaching carbon neutralization. Additionally, there is a growing realization, at national and international levels, that we should increase carbon sink and reduce carbon emissions from various aspects, such as industry, transportation, agriculture, urban land use, green construction, terrestrial ecosystem carbon, blue carbon, etc. Studies on carbon neutralization have begun to spring up, and although some studies have attempted to examine the potential contribution of a single aspect to carbon neutralization, most have focused on theoretical routes and strategies. There are still many issues that need to be solved and research to be explored.

Chair

School of Geography and Ocean Science, Nanjing University, China,
Key Laboratory of carbon neutralization and land space optimization, Ministry of natural resources, China

Introduction
Bio
Associate professor in Nanjing University since 2016. His study mainly focuses on land use/cover change and its effect on ecological environment, especially for the influence on terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink/source. He also examines anthropogenic greenhouse gas emission energy consumption, waste and industrial production process in China. He proposes related land management strategies for local governments to increase carbon sink or reduce carbon emissions, in order for China to reach the goal of carbon neutrality around 2060.

Invited Speakers

Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China

Introduction
Bio
Published about 50 peer-reviewed SCI/SSCI articles in the aspects of low-carbon transition, energy-water-land nexus, and sustainable development, gave a presentation in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 25) in Madrid, Spain, served as the contributing author to China’s National Assessment Report on Climate Change (the 4th version), participated as the council member of Ecological and Environmental Systems Engineering of China, and served as the reviewer for more than 30 internationally academic journals.

North China University of Water Resources and Electric power, China

Introduction
Bio
Zhao Rongqin, Professor of the school of surveying and geo-informatics, North China University of water resources and Electric Power, Vice director of the resource geography Professional Committee of China natural resources society. He has long been engaged in the researches of resources management and carbon emission, especially in the urban carbon cycle, land use carbon emission, regional carbon budget and water-land-energy-carbon nexus. He has chaired 20 research projects and published more than 100 papers on journals such as science (letter), renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, land use policy, etc.

Urban Planning & Engineering, Pusan National University, South Korea

Introduction
Bio
A graduate student in Pusan National University since 2017. His study mainly focuses on carbon neutral city and its optimal energy system. He is also studying optimal carbon neutral path for sustainable growth of regions in Korea and land use planning for hazard mitigation. He has published about 5 research papers. Published a SCI article about climate change and sustainable development. He has been participating the education program ‘Pusan National University Graduate School of Climate Change’ since 2017.
